Today, I convened a virtual consultative meeting with Deputy Principals, Registrars, Heads of Department and Trainers from TVET institutions nationwide to review CBET implementation, institutional performance and accountability in skills delivery. I commended trainers for advancing TVET reforms and emphasized the need to train FROM industry, WITH industry and FOR industry. Priority must remain on practical training, effective use of workshops and equipment, integrity in assessment, trainer industry exposure, accountable leadership, innovation, commercialization and improved trainee transition to employment and enterprise. The proposed Kenya TVET Excellence Awards and Competitions will further recognize outstanding competence, innovation, industry partnerships and measurable institutional performance. Every TVET institution must produce competent, confident, innovative and globally competitive graduates who can create employment, support industrialization and contribute to the realization of BETA and Kenya’s long-term development.
